Get the date right on your Innovator Founder ILR form for dependent spouse extensions (NHS surcharge)

061 Get the date right on your Innovator Founder ILR form for dependent spouse extensions (NHS surcharge)

This is an important point if you have dependents on your Innovator Founder visa. At the time of writing, when you apply for ILR (settlement) as an Innovator Founder, your dependent spouse needs to get an extension. They can apply for 3 years when you apply for ILR, even though they only need 2 years to get to the qualifying 5 years for settlement as an Innovator Founder dependent.

So, the form asks you:

061 Get the date right on your Innovator Founder ILR form for dependent spouse extensions (NHS surcharge)

The title is: “The person you’re joining or remaining with”

Then it says: “Enter their visa expiry date”

It also says: “Please enter the expiry date of your main applicant’s current visa. If they are currently applying for further permission, please provide an estimated visa expiry date based on the length of permission that the main applicant is seeking through their latest application. For certain routes, this may include an additional fixed period of time after the expected course or employment end date”.
Now, in this scenario, you are applying for settlement, so it does not make much sense, right? What should you do? So, you should add on the relevant number of years for the dependent spouse, in this case, three. Then you should deduct one day. So, if today’s date (the application date), is 5.1.2024, then you should enter, 4.1.2027. This will mean you will not pay too much, or too little, for the NHS surcharge.
